Course information

This course is sold out.

5 Sessions are from Wednesday 14th January 2026 to the following Sunday 18th January, from 8:30 am to 12:30 am each day. 

Participants must have already graduated from the Tackers 2 Course.

The club provides all the boats and safety equipment and experienced Qualified Instructors and Assistants.
One parent or guardian is expected to attend each session to assist with launching and retrieval plus sharing of snack / bar-b-que preparation.

A Parent/Guardian, older sibling or relative is required to stay and help. You will learn the sailing skills required to assist with launching and retrieval.. Where opportunities arrise we may even be able to take parents out for a sail on one of our other Adult training boats.

You have the choice of Registering Online (requires payment by Credit Card) or completing an Application form (other payment options available) that will be posted below after this date.
If choosing to use the Application form then download it, complete it and send a copy to training@mordiallocsc.com.au 
The Sail Training Coordinator (Dale Collings) will always acknowledge if received, so if no acknowledgment then you need to followup with him on 0415 595 754.

Course Overview
This course aims to build on skills learned in Tackers 2 and focuses on advanced sailing skills through games and adventures on the water. 

Course Prerequisites

  • Water confident
  • 7-12 years-old
  • Skills, knowledge and experience gained in Tackers 2

Who should do this course?

This course is designed for participants who have completed Tackers 2.

Course Outcome

By the end of the Tackers 3 course, the participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the correct method and understand the theory of roll tacking and gybing
  • Stopping the boat in a confined areas for a period of time
  • Sail backwards
  • Understand the theory behind gybing and can demonstrate the action downwind
  • Show a sound knowledge of the five essentials:
    • Centreboard position
    • Boat trim
    • Boat balance
    • Course made good
    • Sail trim
  • Start and finish races on a triangle and trapezoid course
  • Always use tactical mark roundings in races

You will gain your Tackers 3 completion certificate.
