5km from Mordi, can you come for a sail?

METRO MELBOURNE (under step 2)

  • Australian Sailing is happy to announce that single handed sailing or with someone (maximum 5 household members) from your household bubble is now permissible as part of their 2 hours of exercise within an unpowered vessel. You must adhere to the following:

– This is allowed in an OTB dinghy.

– This is allowed in a yacht that does NOT have a motor. If your yacht has a motor you cannot use it for sailing exercise. This applies even if you do not turn your motor on.

– The 2 hours includes travel to and from the activity

– The 2 hours includes rigging and de-rigging

– You must stay within your 5km radius

– You must wear face masks while on land

– You must keep 1.5 meters distance from others

  • Boat yards – We are currently getting clarification on exactly what activities will be permissible under the safety inspections and maintenance criteria. As soon as we have this detail we will update the Victorian sailing community.

These are certainly strange and testing times we are all currently facing.  If the threat of the virus isn’t enough, we may also have current or developing economic, social and mental health challenges.

The City of Kingston and the club are working closely together to give support to individuals and families who are worried, anxious or fear for the safety of themselves or loved ones in these difficult times.

  • Geoff Gledhill at the City of Kingston is the single contact to offer help/guidance in regards to Community assistance, Mental Health or Domestic violence.

  • Bart Scheen our Commodore is the single contact at the club to discuss the financial help offered by the club including:
  • A 10% discount on all memberships and storage fees for the upcoming season
  • The option of payment plans to enable members to spread the cost of membership
  • Further assistance at the discretion of the Executive for those experiencing serious financial stress.
