The Wing Foils have Arrived

How do I start off with last Saturday?

In the AM, the Opties managed to get out for a sail, as well as the Open Skiffs mid morning and the coffee Cruse event down to Aspendale, all in a easterly breeze that was very deceptive and building as we approached lunchtime.
As race management scrambled for the final member volunteer numbers, the Wing Foil sailors began to turn up.What a pleasant group of young men and women they are and it was a pleasure conducting the six separate races for them.Eventually, with 13 racing wing foilers registered, a suitable course was agreed to with race management.
A big shout out goes to all the volunteers, onshore and on the water that managed to set two separate courses of totally different dimensions. Garry’s team also managed to get in around 20 separate starts without a hitch.
Crawf’s team also put in a mighty effort, laying two separate courses, one very much unfamiliar to them.
Not many race measurement teams could have pulled off so many starts, lay true courses in wind conditions which were 20 + knots.
The success of yesterday keeps alive the chances of awarding the Commodore’s Perpetual and the Vice Commodore’s aggregate series for this season, if we manage to get in 3 more races next weekend.
Many thanks must go to the wing foilers for their attendance and remaining committed to 6 races. It could only be achieved at Mordialloc.
