Vale Mary Casley

It is with a sad heart that I bring the news from outside the Geelong area that Mary Casley, a most committed and loved club member during the 60’s and 70’s has passed away a short time ago. Mary was 93 years old.

For many years Mary was a volunteer or in charge of the canteen and social activities and was the backbone behind her husband Richard who was Commodore from 1970 to 1972 and who was on many committees before and after. Richard was instrumental in securing the purchase of Bowman Street for the club at the auction in February 1972 where the wonderful use of a dummy bidder ensured the sale of the house to the club. Without this success the club may not have been here today.

Mary leaves behind her Daughter Alison, son Jeffery and their families but she is now re-united with her husband after almost 4 decades apart.

Mary’s funeral details will be published in the Herald-Sun on Saturday.
